Vanartsdalen, Kropa Lead Huskies to Win Over Millersville

BLOOMSBURG- Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/ Lower Moreland) scored three goals and Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) added two goals to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 6-1 win over Millersville at the Sports Stadium on Wednesday. The win was the 15th straight victory for the Huskies.
Vanartsdalen got the Huskies on the board quickly, scoring off an assist from Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/ Greenwood) just three minutes into the game. Vanartsdalen then added her second goal in the 11th minute. Kropa picked up her two goals in the 23rd and 29th minutes of the game, giving the Huskies a 4-0 lead going into halftime. The first goal was set up by Maggie Bloskey (Danville/ Danville).
In the second half, Vanartsdalen completed her hat-trick when Erin Hench set her up for a goal in the 44th minute. After Millersville got on the board to make it 5-1, Venessa Witman (Oley/ Oley Valley) closed out the scoring, beating the goalie on a penalty stroke in the 57th minute.
Vanartsdalen and Kropa have now combined for 40 goals in just 15 games. Vanartsdalen leads the PSAC with 21 goals this season.
Bloomsburg, 15-0, 10-0 in the PSAC, will travel to Kutztown this Saturday at 4 p.m.
